Modernistic Architecture in Rock Island

I’ve walked and run a hundred routes around our neighborhood and city, ranging from around the block to 10-mile loops far into Moline and Davenport. To add an aspect of exploration to my recent walks, I’ve been covering portions of a tour developed by the Rock Island Preservation Commission and published in a booklet in 1997. Here are a photos of three structures near downtown.

Notable distinguishing features are the general lack of elaborate decoration, curved surfaces, round windows, glass blocks, and incised panels.
