Rickson House, Architect John Replinger

The Rickson house, designed in 1964, sits on the east side of a small pond in the Lake Park subdivision, south of Champaign. It sits across the water from the Lane house, described in the previous post. The house was built for Oliver and Bonnie Rickson, who owned a supermarket operation on the area. When the Ricksons put the house on the market a few years later, John and Dot (Dad and Mom) briefly considered buying the house.

On our photo tour of houses a few days ago, I walked partway up the driveway to close in on a shot. The current owner stepped out to ask if she could help me with anything. After I introduced myself, we talked briefly about her house. She graciously allowed me inside to take a few photos of the redwood-trimmed, brick-floored interior. The best image I got was of the elegant, well-crafted stairway.
