Wandell Sculpture Garden, Urbana, Illinois

A warm New Year’s Eve day in Urbana on our last visit to Dot’s house gave us the opportunity to walk the trails of Meadowbrook Park. The garden was named in honor of Celia and Willet Wandell, who owned a local plant nursery and established a trust to give trees to neighboring communities. Here are photographs 8 of our favorite sculptures of the 21 in the garden.

We have slight ties to the park and sculptures. Stacey studied sculpture with Roger Blakley at the Univeristy of Illinois, and I spent several summers and a spring in my college years toiling in the fields for Wandell’s Nursery.
